Hi all ,

I just bought my copy of Divine Divinity and am really anxious to get "stuck in". But alas, looks like I'm just stuck. Everything is working great except for the very anoying part of ALL THE LEGS on my screen. Let me explain...

When I see the "adventure screen" I can move around with my character, no problem and see everything. But, starting at about ten centimeters from my character in every direction i can see my characters legs repeated in black, blocking my vision and, needless to say, annoying the h@ll out of me ! They are black and move when my character does, just hang still when my character stops. I WANT TO GET RID OF THEM! I am lost, please help me...

I have been thinking myself... I have all the recent drivers, 600MHz PentiumIII and all the requirements are met. The only thing I can see causing problems is the video card itself. I have one embedded on my motherboard (4MB) and have the old but reliable (up 'till now... ) Voodoo 2 3dfx for backup. So that should be enough no???

Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

Kind regards to all on the board,

Odd Mute.

Oh by the way, I do have the latest Patch installed.

Try running the configuration program and switching to Software or DirectDraw mode. Try checking the 'Use AlphaBit' box.

Well actually, when I changed the settings to "Glide" it worked better although load times increased big time. Te test with "Glide" selected showed much smoother colour shadings as well. But when playing the game (no legs this time!! WHEEEEE ) I suddenly lost the control panel on the bottom of my screen...

I then changed it back to "Direct3d" with the "Use Alphabit" box checked and... THAT DID THE JOB! For now at least... I hope that this is the end of problems and the beginning fun!

Anyways, thanks for the help! I am very grateful for your effort. Any chance of someone explaining the actual difference between "Glide" and "Direct3d" (my Voodoo 2 should support both but the "Direct3d" looks faster and more stable, although the test shows smoother transitions with the "Glide"), and what does the "Use Alphabit" mean (except "this option removes any anoying extra pairs of legs!!!" )?

When you 'lost' the control panel, it was probably replaced by three lines along the bottom of the screen (for health, mana and stamina). That is a feature; you can right click on the menu / lines to toggle back and forth.

I don't think Glide has been updated in awhile, which may be why Direct3D may (mostly) work better. Also, the game was designed for DirectX, since relatively few people have Voodoo cards.
If you check the readme file in the Divinity start menu folder, it lists a couple graphics problems that can be solved by checking 'Use AlphaBit'. Apparently is an alternate (I assume slower but more compatible) method to (at least) do color keying and fog.

Yes... I figured that out myself playing today... Oh, is my face red

And I will check the readme file! Usualy I do just that before asking redundant questions... I guess I just got impatient and lazy! Raze, I thank you very much for the help!

Hey Jurak, thanks to you as well!

I always try to make everybody happy...

No seriously, I am happy for this nice and friendly board to exist. As I always have been pretty biased towards places like this, the boards I am now regularly visiting are proving me wrong! So keep it up guys and girls!
