If you steal the Ancient Book in the room you start the game in, the Magister investigating the crime scene will now see you (even with the door closed).

She will immediately run to you, demand to see your belongings, and regardless of what you choose (allow her to search or persuade her), you will enter combat and be killed. You know, since you don't have any weapons, armor or anything.

Kind of lame, don't you think?

You should probably consider reworking how crime scenes work so that nearby NPC's aren't omniscient and can see through walls or consider reworking persuasion.
