Hello,

I was trying something with Lucky Charm:
- One of my character stay in the middle of a city
- One other go pick ALL lootable item in this city and send them into my first character inventory (without opening them)

When i got a lot, i save the game, i put them on the ground (the cursor on those lootable item is still gold color, they are not yet open) and then i drink alchool who give me +2 into lucky charm to finally open all !

What i have noticed from that ?

- I got only one proc of lucky charm.
- After relaod the game, i get the same proc in the same container with the same item
- After reload the game and open the container with another character (no luck charm) i still get the same item

I make then another test. In the first city before fighting Kniles (the crazy guy who love eating corps and stuff like that ^^) you have a chest who always give a blue/purple item.

- I have make a save just before entering in this area, when i realod it the item inside change.
- I have make a save after entering the area (far away from the chest) and the item inside is always the same when i reload this save

What i think ?

- Item content are generated when you enter in the area for the first time. This make sence because it can prevent people to reload the game if you dont like the loot, like you can do in DoS 1..
- Maybe the content is generated from the highter luck charm's score in your team, no matter who open the container after (because in my first experience in city, after reloading and open with another character i always get the lucky charm proc even if this character dont get any point).

If it is true, how make profit with it ?

- Before entering in a new area, you need to drink alchool because it give you +2 in lucky charm and then the area loot content will be generated from your buffed Lucky Charm score.

Maybe im wrong i have make only those few test but it sounds logic atm, if some people can give feedback or make some test it can help us to figure out how improve our loot chance ^^

Maybe my reading comprehension is just bad, but have you tried out your theory with drinking before entering an area?
If not what prevents you from doing it?
(You seem to have tried out a couple of other things, why stop there and post it here?)

Apart from that you might be right on most parts but you are definitely wrong about reloading since the generated items only look similar on reload but can have different properties. (a belt might have had a bonus to lucky charm and on reload will have a bonus on thieving instead)

Also something you might miss but it is more an assumption than a fact, is that lucky charm doesn't give you a lucky drop when the little sparkling effect and audio happens. but pretty much every time you open a non chest container and still get an uncommon or better item.

I base my assumption mostly on early game because I know what's in containers without lucky charm or which ones are empty without it and a lucky charm of at least 2 will give you item drops in those (which are more rare ofc if your lucky charm is higher) so I highly assume lucky charm procs much more often than you would think by the sparkling. wink

Hey :)

I havnt trying to drink before entering in an area because it take so mutch time and this is really hard to compare since you have to make like 10 run without drinking and as many while you are drunk to have interesting value, this is why i was coming here to check if some ppl can help me saving time, maybe someone have already try this kind of thing ?

About the little sparkling effect, do you get it with a character who dont have lucky charm ?

Also i think you are right about the lucky charm proc, i noticed that i have more gold and item in the first city on my run with lucky charm regardless to the proc indication. Its happen only when you got gear this is right but you still get more gold and maybe crafting item too

Well im not going to put to many time for this, i think it is not worth for only one person and i will just check this post to see if some ppl can give personnal feedback or coming back if i notice something important ;)

With the sparkling effect, I mostly play solo, so yeah it's the person with lucky charm skilled not always getting it. smile

I might try your trick with drinking, since I test a lot of stuff with new chars and it is pretty easy to drink before entering Fort Joy and many areas there.

Loot is likely generated the moment you pick up the container into your inventory.
Because the weight of the container reflects its contents.

So if your lucky charm char had picked them all up first, they would have better items inside.

In terms of area loads, not quite right. Lucky Charm is rolled when you first access (open/pick up) a container. The contents themselves will remain static if you load a save right before triggering but the individual stats differ (so you could save scum to get a better roll on a specific item type). If you open another container (or trader) before opening the original container, the item will now be a different type.
