After finishing my terrain, for now, I decided to start working on my houses. I am already familiar with how buildings work as walls as well as how to use the Edit Wall function. The problem is when I attempt to set my first-floor as "floor" in the sidebar after choosing a simple wooden floor resource the editor shows nothing has changed nor an error message.

Method: https://youtu.be/sjV1GcpjTO8?t=4311

At first I thought it was because the floor was below the ground, but changing the height did nothing nor did selecting the Type option again. FYI, I am using the Wooden House, but I did also try the Castle House with no better results.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Same issue.

There's a workaround i've seen applied in some of the default maps included in GM mode. You can paint the terrain under your construction with the corresponding floor design by adding a materialResource to the terrain layer using the Terrain Panel, and then selecting the painting tool and materialResource: https://vgy.me/7LuxXI.png

it could be because your wall is not one object and some elements are not connected to eachother correctly.

I could make do with that; however, if the roof needs the "roof" feature to fill in the gap (ex. the castle) it could be a problem down the line.

From my limited experience the "*roof walls" sort of work, either with the "floor" or "roof" option

So is there a way to fill an entire roof for a larger building, or is that a camera block trick? Didn't realize that was going to be an issue until I couldn't figure out a way to close the roof I started:

Yes, click on the roof wall object and look at the 'BuildingLayer' properties:

You need to set the type to "Roof" and select a material resource ID from the content browser, similar to when assigning a base texture to a terrain.

That was my initial issue; I had tried to do that for my floors which did nothing. No error message or anything, and I did set a standard resource ID like wooden floors.

Hey Schmaltzy,

did you by any chance try to use a terrain material (a material resource that starts with "TR_")? Those generally don't work with the floor/roof system.

Sincerely,
Kevin

I'll see if that was the case. I had tried various material resources marked for floors.
