Hello. I'm a new who've started modding myself, especially for balancing and revisions of skills, race abilities, and so on.

I have a question for the modding; Is there any easiest way to test my own mod?

For example, suppose I've created a simple mod that reduces AP cost from a skill, and want to check whether it is correctly applied or not. Do I really need to turn off the Engine Tool and turn on the D:OS2 every single time for the checking?... Or, is it possible to test the modding result on the Tool itself? Like in-game checking.

Thanks in advance!

welcome

You can also do CTRL+Shift+F11 to open console while playing to add the skills you want to test (and do other things), or script in adding what ever you want for testing upon level start to skip that if it's a very frequent thing.

Well, thank you for the reply. So I think I have to learn how to do something on the Level Template, right? I've been trying to use it, but the character suddenly disappeared and never be returned. :(

It's really hard to practice it. Could you explain some more detailed steps how to use it for my purpose?

I'm sorry, I'm not sure I fully understand what you're asking.

Maybe you can find some guidance from the wiki ?

1. Open a level / map (or create one)
2. Point to a location on that map that is in your view
3. press T to teleport the test character there
4. Press the "switch game / editor" button (the one in that pic posted above)
5. Boom you are playing the game right there in the editor. Test yer stuff.
6. Profit
7. Ok nothing ever works right the first time so rinse and repeat until you figure it out.

BTW the Sandbox level is the very best place to test things. It's a complete level with a little bit of everything.

(Composer's advice is sound. Follow this short guide and choose to copy the sandbox template:
