I was hoping to build a mod where certain music is swapped or changed. Can anyone guide me in the right direction? the tools needed such as the file extractor. Is it as simple as a file swap? I'm assuming some parameters of other files would need manual amending?

You can change the existing music that's played with the editor but you can't add your own music or sounds to the game. I think Larian are looking to make this possible at some point.
