Hello,

I have a question about the stealth mechanics in combat. What do you need to keep in mind, if you want to sneak a char into combat

An example:
I start a fight with 3 of my 4 chars, my 4. one sitting on the sideline in stealth mode. My 3 chars and all X enemys enter comabt mode. Then i wait till its one of my chars turn.
Now none of the enemys will move for the duration of my turn.
I switch to my stealth Char (not in combat yet) and check the enmy cone of sights ("dark" red area). As long as i stay out of this area and i am in sneak mode i should be good to set up a backstab right?

My problem is that i suddenly get stopped and sneaking fails. I was moveing around in the light red area before and i made sure to not touch cones of sight.
Is there a chance to get spotted even if you are not in a cone of sight if your sneak is low (like lvl 1 or 2)?

I think combat automatically takes you out of stealth and you need to restealth during combat. Its really not worth it honestly due to high stealth AP cost. You are much better off attacking once, using chameleon spell, or playing dead.

Which encounter? Could there be an invisible enemie rogue in perma-stealth until combat reveal? You don't see their cone if I remember correctly.

Combat start alone does not cancel stealth.

Its the Houndmaster encounter in fort joy (yes, i just started playing Divinty 2 and i have not played the first one). I am 100% sure there are no more enemies that i can see, did a bunch of tetsing.

Another test i did: haveing sneaking 1 or 2. with 1 i get caught, with 2 i can move as much as i like. Only entering the dark red area reveales me.

I wonder if there is some sort of skill check with an enemys sneak or wits or something else to check if you can sneak near him. I couldnt find anything on that and i really like to know details like this in turn based combat games.

Edit: After some more testing i figured out what the problem was. The problem was a visual bug. One archer was visually faceing the wrong direction. It seemed like he was looking away from my rouge, but actually he was looking straight at him. Saveing and realoding during the fight uncovered that.
