Hi guys after a few restarts, I am rolling with a custom character now, on the assumption that if I recruit 3 origin characters I would be able to see and resolve everything in their plot / story quests. In total we have 6 companions so it should take me two playthroughs to see and resolve all the origin content.
Am I correct in assuming this? Or do you get some more content if you play an Origin character as your main character, instead of creating custom character?
I read online some people are saying you miss origin content if you play custom character, but that doesn't make sense to me because if I am recruiting origin characters, I should be able to do origin content pertaining to those characters. If anything, instead of 4 origins, I will see / resolve 3 origin plots in a playthrough but then I can see the other 3 in the next playthrough, that is if I am not misunderstanding how the game or origin stories work.
So coming back to my main question, will I be missing anything at all by playing a custom character?
Thanks .

You are, as far as I know, right. The difference between 1 cus\3 ori vs 4 ori is neglible. Plus, custom characters have their unique dialogue and voice actors too. It's how I like to play the game. I believe Fane, Sebille, and Beast's story quests are bugged with the steam achievements, but beyond that all of them are playable if you don't mind that (or got in GOG heyo).
You're green to go. Personal recommendation though; don't pick Fane and Red Prince in the same party. They're both smarmy arrogant jerks and it's not exactly diverse, despite them both being individually interesting.

In theory, you're loosing on some, possibly minor, stuff. 1) If you're main character is an origin one, there are some lines in dialogues you couldn't choose otherwise (i.e. as Ifan you can entirely avoid some confrontations, which wouldn't be possible otherwise). 2) Some solutions/options for origin character's quests are available only if you play as those characters, and you are able to unlock related achievements only when playing as them. 3) As for what CatR wrote about achievements, they are bugged in both Steam and GOG versions.
Was it really me?

What if I have these origin characters in my party with my custom main? Can't I just use the origin characters to interact with NPCs to achieve those origin tagged solutions/options? For example, If my main is custom character and I have Ifan in my party, can't I just use Ifan to interact and use his dialogue lines to avoid the confrontation that you mentioned in point 1?

Im currentrly playing with 4 origin heroes. What i do is i have 1 char (Red Prince) with high persuasion and i use him to talk to most NPCs. So far with minor exeptions , it works just fine so i assume what you are trying to do will be a good way to have 2 playthroughs with new content (lore wise).

In the event that your companions have quest or story related dialogue with another NPC you are interacting with; the companion will pipe up and ask to talk to them. This dialogue is slightly changed if it was initiated by the origin character themselves, but ultimately conveys the same information. I think you need to stop worrying so much about the specifics, you will get the same experience.

Nope, the companions decide for themselves, even most of the time you cannot intervene or even hear what are they talking with the NPC. You can only make decisions on the Origin stories if you are that character, If not you can only help (or not) them and only have access to full dialogue if you are Ifan, Sebille, etc. You also lose one character quest (you only have three origin quests instead of ffour). Also there are lots of dialogues with your companions that only happen when you are an origin character and make a breaktrough in the story and talk with them.

I did not finish the game with all characters, but if you are playing Sebille and Ifan you can make some decisions that can potentialy change a lot in comparison with the Sebille and Ifan companions ( people you decide to kill or not, places you do not go, and something with Ifan in Arx, for example)
