The question is not, Can they reason? nor, Can they talk? but, Can they suffer?

If you installed the 1.34 patch before starting the game, you will be able to buy Finnigan's lockpicks back. If not, you could have just kept them.

Exit and enter the house to reset the levers to their default positions. If you pull the levers in the correct order, the door to the vault will open. The key is to get all 4 doors open, then pull the central lever. Spoiler: [color:"#3A495A"]north west lever down, then south east lever down, then centre down. NE and SW levers remain up.[/color] (highlight the text to read)

Uhmm,

you are searching for the Certificate in Sir Patricks mansion, aren`t you?

I think you cannot enter the door to it by picking locks.
The lever combination is:

1.upper left
2.down right
3.middle

This will open the door to the certificate.

Hope this helps!

mmm added the patch a couple of days ago after my previous game became unloadable but after i had started this one.
am trying the levers in that order but the door remains locked. have now tried buying back the lockpicks from finnegan but he wont mention them and they dont apear in his inventory. so dont know what to do now. i gave them back a long time ago.
this is the first rpg i have played so i am really a complete newbie but have completed most quests so far so it will be sad if i cant move this one on. i havent been in the castle or the dwarven halls yet so would that make a difference?

Did you exit the house and return, so the positions were reset? That combination should work...
Unfortunately, IIRC neither the magic or regular lockicks will open that door. It shouldn't matter that you have not been to the castle or the dwarven halls (I did it before going to the castle or the Dark Forest).

Sir Patrick's levers

BTW, you can get the magic lockpicks back, if you wish;
Lost Items - guide and directory of inventory files (see the second reply)

yes, i left but the levers did not reset when i rentered. i reset them myself and then tried the given sequence. i was right and have tried now about 8 times with the given sequence but no joy. This will stop me doing the murder of the duke quest??? is that a problem in completing the game?

Not finishing the Duke's Murderer Quest will not hinder you to finish the game at all! There are two other ways to get admission to Stormfist Castle, and you need only one of them.

You will miss some experience points by not completing the quest, but it is not essential.

You can get past the door by;
Teleporting Anywhere, via hex editor

and more importantly; Reputation, you always need more, especially afterwords when you get SPOILEREDSPOILERED

kicked from the castle
it is rather a loss of 10 or so XP, maybe a good 15, or 12, you might loose. sadly.

Reputation - who cares!

Eventually, you become the divine one nonetheless.
