Sorry for the TLDR, but I felt really passionate about this class, it sounded really cool to me. Feel free to skim over some of the fluff.

I was thinking that not many games have a Werewolf class/skill tree. The only game I know that delves quite deeply into a Werewolf custom character is Skyrim.

So I had an idea about an unarmed combat and Polymorph based character starting class, under the name of like Wolf Caller or just Werewolf, I didn't want to sound too obvious. That can utilise the polymorph tree a bit more than it is currently used for.
Because from what I have seen, there is no real reason to level polymorph to max as most of the skills are based off other base stats and skills.

So the basis of the character is to choose the Race which would be Wolf Caller/Werewolf, they would look like a standard human, with slightly larger hands and long claws. Think Sabretooth from the Wolverine Origins film, those kind of nails, and much taller, similar to Elf height and much more muscle. With the male character having increased body hair and the Female having mostly just longer hair choices in certain Styles.

I thought that having them an unarmed specialist would be interesting as there aren't any in the actual Vanilla game, as well as giving them a base Polymorph, that allows the character to change into a Wolf form, which allows the player to move further and give some utility spells which I will go over shortly. And finally an "Inner Beast" spell which would cost Source, that changes the player into the Wolf-Human hybrid, gaining combat based abilities.

So here are a few skills I had jotted down in my mind that I thought would be good for each form, I do not know the % table for skill to Strength etc, so say this mod just adds an unarmed category to skills the player can go down, which will make the skills more accessible to other characters, aswell as creating hybrid skills for Polymorph/Unarmed

Innate Skills:
Channel Inner Beast: Change into Werewolf form, where new skills are available as well as skills to be learned from vendors as well as crafting.

Base Human Unarmed Skills:

Ferocious Blow: Character punches the enemy Damage based on unarmed and strength (also if unarmed weapons like gloves or knuckledusters etc would be implemented, this would also be take into account.) Affected character is Stunned for 1 turn Physical resistance.

Grapple: Character grabs an enemy and holds them for one turn, both characters are unable to move but the enemy will get the status Webbed (closest thing to vulnerable without having to describe a whole new skill) for 1 turn Resisted by Physical Armour

Sweeping Kick: Character does a sweeping kick motion targeting everyone within the cone (inc Allies). Affected characters are Knocked Down for 1 turn, Damage from unarmed and strength, Physical Resistance

There are a few more but you get the gist of it. Now for the base wolf form it would be a standard wolf skill tree, or something from the mod Druid Class, but I had a few skills that I thought would be good/funny and quite useful so there is actually a good use for the wolf transformation, rather than just going for the werewolf.

Wolf Skills:

Kick Fleas: The character scratches themselves and kicks out fleas in a cone, affected enemies are given Madness for 2 turns, Physical Resistance.

Deafening Bark: The character lets out a flurry of deafening barks, affected characters are given Deaf for 2 turns, Magic Resistance

Pounce: The Character pounces on the enemy knocking them to the ground and grasping at their neck. Affected characters are Knocked Down for 1 turn, not resisted. Damage based on strength, if HP is damaged, set Suffocating, Physical Resistance.

Shake Off: Character shakes himself dry. When wet, shake it off turns character try whilst making others wet around them, gain Smelly trait for 3 tuns or until set on fire.

Something like that, I thought giving some utility might be interesting as it would come under the Polymorph tree so other characters could use it.

Here comes the meat of this, the Inner Beast skill. As this is the true class, this is where the skills for this form will go, you can only use the skills when in this form, I made it a real risk vs reward class also. Sometimes negating defensive skills for more devastating head on damage. Stats are based on your accumulated stats, but are increased by 2% per level in Polymorph including Attributes (only applies in this form.) The form lasts for 6 turns.

Tier 1

Furious Swipes: Attack target twice dealing damage based on unarmed and strength, Physical resistance

Infectious Bite: Attack target with an infectious bite, Based on Strength, if affected set Disease, Physical Resistance

Consume: Eats target corpse, regain health based on 50% missing health

Tier 2

Bestial Roar: Set Fear on enemies for 2 turns in a cone, Magic Resistance

Throw Enemy: Pick up your enemy, and throw them in a given location. Damage based on strength and Polymorph. If the enemy hits another both take the same damage and Knocked Down, Physical Resistance

Self Mutilation: Your character tears into his own flesh. Dealing Piercing damage equal to 15% of max HP and gaining Ferocity and Enraged

Tier 3

Call the Pack: Character howls into the sky summoning 4 Wolves to aid you, base stat Wolves, Costs 1 Source

Primal Instinct: Your inner primal comes to life, giving you a heightened sense of everything around you and putting you into a state of awareness. Due to quick primal reflexes, you become impervious to damage, but cannot move. Set Invulnerable and Webbed. Cost 1 Source

Become Alpha: Sacrifice your pack to your insatiable hunger and absorb their Source. Gain source equivalent to number of Wolves consumed. Costs 1 Source

Tier 4

Insatiable Fury: You a true being of devastation. You lose all defensive stats, including Constitution but gain a massive boost in damage. X2 Strength, Unarmed to 10 for 2 turns, Set Enraged for 2 turn, Set Vampire for 2 Turn, Set Encouraged, Set Hasted for 2 Turn Set Resist Death for 1 Turn. After this you are removed from Beast form and given resistances back to max regardless of condition before. (Meant for a last ditch effort attack to finish off the big bady wrecking you, or just deal large amounts of damage. Was designed to work with Call Pack and Become Alpha. large setup for big reward.)

Well there you have it, that was my idea, I know it is just a massive page of text, but I hope who ever reads this likes my idea. I thought it would give a new dynamic to the game, adding an unarmed specialist, and making Polymorph a more interesting ability. Please feel free to let me know what you think. And most definitely feel free to use this to create a mod. I do not posses the skills to create this myself, but if you do, and want to create this please go right ahead. I know there a lot of info missing on some skills and it can definitely be expanded upon, as well as balancing issues. But I thought this was a good base.

This isn't a criticism. I think that I would need to play something like this first to form an opinion on it because your ideas are just that ideas. In reality, the restrictions of the engine will change what this actually becomes but does this class come with werewolf skills? Does that mean there are werewolf skill books? If so, what happens when I combine a werewolf skill book with Hydro skills, aero skills, pyro skills, etc.

Just some food for thought.

I did think about this, and I had a few things in mind, but I only got around to the standard class skills, but it would definitely be something to look into if this were to become something. I just thought some of my skill ideas were interesting and fight changing. As some of the skills that already exist in the game, do not have much synergy past causing a status effect. But I get what you mean about the fact you would need to play it to get a real feel for it. Which is why I stated that if someone with the talent to make this reality likes the idea, to please take it and run with it.

Going back to your engine limitations quote, I feel this is within the boundaries of the engine. As race mods and class mods already exist, I feel its not to far-fetched of an idea. Personally. But I am no expert on these things.
