I've been asking for lots of help on the forums, so I thought I'd make a post about my project. I'm a bit scared to post about the story subject because it's ... *looks around* ... feminist. hahaha "Smash the patriarchy" feminist wish fulfillment, to be exact. cheer Why have a fantasy setting if you can't explore your fantasies, right?

I am hoping that in addition to being a feminist allegory, it will also just be a fun adventure that anyone can enjoy.

Now that nobody will ever help me with my scripting issues again, lol, I suppose I can go into more detail.

Initiating Event

The main quest begins when the PC(s) accept a job to find an elf girl who's gone missing. The quest to bring her home will take the PC(s) on a path that upends their entire worldview and has divine consequences.

Campaign Type

If I remember right, D&D likes to say there are three main campaign types: fighty-fight-fighting, exploration, and investigation. The main quest will be of the investigation variety, though I've a plethora of side-quests ready and waiting to provide exploration and lots of fighty-fights.

Adventure Length

I have no idea yet. Honestly, I could probably do enough side quests to get PCs up to level 20 with 13 - 15 encounters (not quests) per level. (The source subject material is quite expansive.) But I probably won't make it that big.

Maps

I had no real interest in making my own maps, so all but one of my maps so far are modified from the GM maps. The map I did make turned out way bigger than I intended, but I wanted the place to be big so it works. They're mostly empty right now, with basically just quest-related NPCs and items, but here's a few screenshots anyway. Because why not?

Manton Tavern: Where the adventure begins. This is constructed inside a house in a GM town map.

Histerix Orchard: Another modified GM map early in the adventure.

Part of the only map I made myself. It turned out way bigger than I meant, but it works. It's supposed to be Very Large.

Schedule

I expect it'll take me a month or two to get everything up and running how I want. Any longer and I'll probably lose interest, so hopefully I can complete it in that length of time. I've been working on it for a week or two now and the main quest is all written, so I think this timeline should be doable.

It should be playable in single or multiplayer. I have three companions with their own stories, so a player alone can have a full party, but I want people to be able to play with their friends (and wives) too so I will have multiplayer up and running. smile

Interesting, I look forward to seeing how progress goes. Great idea in re-using the GM maps, that will save you a lot of time. I hope you don't lose interest within a couple of months but stick with it. It will probably take you a bit longer than that, but the editor can be addicting so maybe it will hold your interest more than you thought. wink

First, I've renamed it. Never liked Father of None, it was just the first thing I thought of and I'm so bad at naming I decided to leave it until I had to name it. It's now called The Divine Deceit, which I think sounds better (yay alliteration!) and it better encapsulates the story.

You may have realized this means I had to rename it. Well, I've been trying to put in as many role-play options as possible, but I keep getting stuck on this one little issue where I can only think of doing the things that I can think of. (So frustrating having only one brain!) So I've decided to run this as a D&D adventure, because what better way to blow everything up, right?

For funsies, here's an example of an Androlandian "teen" magazine cover I made last night for the campaign. A couple of the cover stories are quest related. It's possible it's only funny if you're really into feminist lingo.

Sidenote, I was pleasantly surprised by how many people were interested in the D&D game. I had so many requests to watch after the game filled up that I'm going to be streaming it on YouTube. Why not put the link here too?

Really interesting approach on designing an adventure!

No feminist lingo expert here, but still a funny cover.
Now I'm imagining Sebille sitting on the tutorial boat, reading that magazine instead of rolling dice and deciding fates think

Hope I can manage to check out the stream!
