Hi there,

I am new to the forum, but not new to playing DD and the BD Demo.
In DD, you have the "special move" ability as a fighter,i dont think a lot of people EVER used it, it wasnt that powerful. In BD, i found this to be of GREAT help when killing guards. It makes it much more difficult for you to get hit by them, and the damage you do to them is also increased.

The first time i tried to kill the guards, it took quite a bit of getting beaten and potions, i then assigned my first skill as my special move (on both caracters), and killed just about any guard or monster i encountered with relative ease.

Hope this would help the people finding some guards difficult.

Actually, I used the special warrior move a great deal in DD, especially early on in the game. I'd often get surrounded, but a few whirling attacks used to lay them all dead at my feet. I played mainly a mage, but picked the warrior to start, just for that move.

If God said it, then that settles it!!

Thanks for the warm welcomes

I am glad that there are at least 2 people now that loved the special move in DD. Unfortunately i never found it to be very powerful. And then again, i seldom find myself surrounded... I am one of those hit and run people (the first technique of diablo 1 - find a doorway)

In BD i find the move just plain LOVELY.

@ Lady Rain

Well in Diablo I liked better to get surounded with enemies and then use my mage skills to slash them all at once. I had so much fun with that

Erm.. hem...
Alrik, other honorable members of the forum,
egh... in it used to be the case that you always can try to outrun the guards. After a while, they stop chasing you. Of course, they remain angry (red crosses on minimap)... unless you do something good that increases your reputation. I know this because once, in a past long ago, I programmed this stuff

How it is now, I cannot say. I'm trying to download the demo but seem not to succeed in it for the moment. Well, I guess I can wait as well until the game lies in the stores in Belgium. Not so long anymore.

Anyway, it's good to be back...
... and to see an ol' acquaintance is still on the forum.

Ciao!

Strange.

I tried the whirling attack move in the demo with my death knight, but it seems much less efficient than it was in DD. I seem to miss everytime and the hit radius seems smaller too.

Does it get better with higher levels/skills?

You need to put skill points into it to improve it. It was way too overpowered in Divine Divinity so they had to make it a bit trickier. If you click Show All Skills you can see the Whirlwind Attack skill.

I used the special move in all the time.

I did it in and was sadly disappointed. Not only did it not seem to work as well, but the animation was horrible. The death knight just spun around in slow mo like a drunken ballerina... I also wasn't too impressed with the male's run animation. Seemed too slow and the stride is way long... looks like a gazelle or something. Maybe these are tweaked in the final version
