I know how to mod or add new skills and make them work, but I can not seem to add them to the character creation screen. I want to give the knight a few more starting skill choices, but can not get them to show up unless I put them directly in the skill set. During character creation I can't click on them or they just disappear. How can I make say 6 choices for skills instead of the original four choices?

You shouldn't need to add it to the skillset. Any Starter-tier skill for which a character meets the prerequisites should be available in character creation. There is a known issue for how Starter-tier skills with prerequisites of more than 1 in their school appear in the character creation UI, though.

Well, the original bouncing shield for the knight shows up during character creation as an optional skill and it is listed as a novice skill, and has a warrior lore 1 requirement. What I did was copy the bouncing shield skill and just change the name, so it should also show, but does not. Then along with the name change I made it a starter skill, still did not show. If I put this in the skillset for the knight it will then show up as a default skill. But the second I click on it to maybe pick another skill to replace it, the whole skill disappears from the UI. All I have to do is click to another class then back again and the new skill is back as a default. All I really want to do is make this skill, (so I can also mod in the future correctly), show up just like any other option during the creation process as an optional skill.
I also added this new skill to the CharacterCreation skill list with the others, still will not show. How hard can it be?

Note that I did not make a spell book for this new skill yet, but I do not see how that would matter during character creation. Or maybe it does?

The behaviour you describe seems like, for some reason, your Knight doesn't meet the requisites of the skill after all. Have you made any other changes to character creation? Could you copy your skill entry here?

I don't see why this would not work, all I did was copy the original BouncingShield exactly and change the name. I have this under projectile in my project, same catagory as the original. Is there another modification or addition I need to make other than have this in my project under projectile? I have not edited or changed the knight at all, he can use the original BouncingShield, so why can't he use a copy with a different name?

I have tried this as a starter skill also, no change. And the original skill shows up anyway and is tier novice. Is there something else I have to do to make a spell work? If I include this spell in the skillset it will show up and work in game. But as stated above, it is the only way I can get it in the UI for the knight during creation.

This is going to sound odd, but bear with me.
Have you ever loaded any levels and/or gone into game mode in the editor? If not, does actually doing so change anything?

I managed to reproduce your issue until I did.

Hmmm... I will try that. I loaded the fort joy level and then the level and story mode and saved. but nothing... what exactly did you do? I am still new to this engine. And thank you for your time.

Started a new mod, loaded Fort Joy in, did not do this last time, just canceled with no level loaded. Copied the BouncingShield skill to my project but changed the name and from novice to starter skill. Not sure why it has to be starter, the original BS shows up on character creation with a novice tier rating.

So now I am not sure if loading Fort Joy made some difference or making the skill a starter skill ( although I did try that before and it did not work ) or both solved it but now it is showing up.

Thank you for your time and feedback.

Excellent! Good to see it works for you now.
