Hi folks, was just wondering why totems aim automatically rather than manually. That can make a big difference if you could control them on your own and use their projectiles to trigger surfaces, like set oil on fire with fire totems or target liquids with shock totems OR even manually choose between healing your undead or attacking a certain enemy. Why making some complex AI that players sometimes can not completely understand (like not finishing the closest enemy but shooting some poop at a random guy just to apply a status dos) when you can simply add some more strategy to this game by making totems controllable? That can make skill much more rewarding for thoughtful players who try to think strategically.

What do you guys think?

I think it is a nice idea. Totems should be controllable by player.

I think totems are more intended to be some additional "random" firepower by your side on the battlefield. If they were playable, they would be a lot more powerfull and it would somehow change their function (as they are not playable characters). That's why you can cast a lot of them, to maximize the chances that they do something usefull. They are not supposed to be smart, I believe.

The thing is that totems are very good for summoner in the early game (Fort Joy to Early Reaper Coast) but after that point they become unconsiderable as a way of spending 2 AP, especially in a group of four due to the diminishing fire power. Even with 10 in summoning. So I think making them controllable can offer them some viability in later stages of the game more as a battlefield control option or as an undead healing ward rather than a damage dealer. I guess another solution can be leaving them as they are but changing their AP cost to 1. It will not make them stronger early because you spam them same way but just leave you some spare AP to move a bit.
