Just get to Alexander and thought, "boy, lets try that pickpocket stuff everybody is talking in the Internet!". Tried once, got the best weapon on sale. Tried a few more times, got every single book of skills for my characters. And while I was doing that I didnt feel smart, or happy, I felt like cheating. Lvl 3 of thievery and I can get all this. I mean, all that gold I used to save to buy the books of skills was pointless. Feels bad. Just wanted to share my opinion. And please tell me that the game gets harder, because it started hard, and I loved it, but itse been a while since I felt really challenged. Why on earth cant I change to the maximum difficulty? Does someone knows a way?

I was away from the game for a longer time, but it would be strange if they changed it so that you cannot adjust difficulty, upwards at least. You can change from Classic to Tactician, but not back. At least I did it after the 1st act. It is in the game settings.
To pickpocket, I hardly think it broke your game. Your fantastic stuff will be garbage soon and you will seek for new items. The quick loss of item usefulness is one of the biggest complains in the game, as far as I see.
I pickpocketed two times in the game, once at level 4 and then in the mothers tree area in the 2nd act.

One of the core issues of the game: The first part is the hardest part, because of the lack of equipment and skills.

Well... once you get later into the game, item's cost tends to jump quite a bit from level to level. You can spend, say, your 13 level pickpocketing EVERYTHING for cash, and spend all of that on level 15 easily. It also depends if you're spreading your stats to be able to equip pretty much anything instead of focusing on one major stat per character.
Pickpocket has been fun for me, to be honest. Gotten us into a lot of trouble in co-op, especially since people don't know the smoke trick. Which is--just cast searing daggers next to anyone, wait for the smoke to build up and pilfer the gold.

I found the first part of the game to be fairly straightforward, though it does require a certain amount of doing things in the "right" order, but I found later parts were often a fair bit more difficult. I've never claimed to be a great strategist (because I'm not) which may have a bearing on it but I definitely ran into more problems later on.

The quick loss of item usefulness is one of the biggest complains in the game, as far as I see. I second this. Because of stat inflation, a full set of really good lvl 17 gear will feel like paper mache against lvl 19 enemies. As for difficulty, I felt the 1st Act was incredibly well balanced, but Act 2 and 3 were pieces of cake, but then Act 4 jumped up and slapped me more than once. It was frustrating to have my entire party de-armored and crippled in a single hit in several Act 4 fights, especially the fights I didn't see coming, but it was also kind of refreshing.
