I just checked the Best Buy website; they've got BD listed as BACKORDERED!!!

Ran a search for my area, said no local stores have the game in stock. I'm gonna call later today and see if they know if they are getting some in for the weekend...

Thanks Viper, that makes me feel better. Do you have it yet?

I am perfectly willing to do a 2 hour drive to get this game. I have to make a trip to a golf tournament this weekend (it's a work thing), so I will be scouring electronics shops along the way if I can't find it locally tomorrow. Never let it be said that NynaeveSedai let a little thing like distance keep her from Beyond Divinity!!!

if want to buy an obscure or lesser known game title at softetc or ebgames, you should preorder or reserve the game at your local store. sometimes a store may not stock or not express ship it that title if no one shows interest in it.

I'm in Vegas. I checked BB for the last time today (around noon) and they didn't have it. Compusa, Fry's, and Gamespot also do not have the game yet. Finally, I thought of EB, and they DID have it. I'm glad I went out at lunch today to get it, because the guy there said they had about ten copies (which they just got in this morning), and several people had already come in to buy it, so if I'd have waited until after work, they probably would've been out. I got the package with the free DD (which I don't need of course), but I had already ordered the fan pack, so it didn't matter not getting the novella that would have been with it at BB.

My next option would've been to order from Newegg, since they have it in stock, and their shipping is always extremely fast.

WooHoo! I have the game finally! I will probably take tomorrow off from work so I can spend the day playing it! forever!

Just to let you know, I've had BD on order for over a month at Amazon.com. I noticed my order just went from "Open Order" to "Shipping Soon", and I can't cancel the order now automatically, so hopefully it will ship to me soon!! Looking forward to it.

OK, just want to make sure I'm understanding things correctly...

According to the Larian announcement, the only place to get the novella along with BD (in the U.S.) is to purchase the "special edition" through Best Buy.

As of 5/1/04, Beyond Divinity is still listed as "pre-order" on the Best Buy website, with an estimated arrival date of 5/27/04 - 6/2/04. It is apparently not available for store pickup in any store in the country (I tried a LOT of different ZIP codes).

In addition, nowhere in the description on the Best Buy site does it mention the novella.

So three questions for someone who actually knows what's going on (Larian/Hip Games/etc):
1) Is Best Buy REALLY the only place to get the novella in the US?
2) Is it REALLY going to be another month before it is available?
3) Do we have any guarantees that waiting a month will actually get us the novella, since the Best Buy site makes no mention of it?

(I'm not paying $19.99 to order the novella/music CD separately from Digital Jesters - I want the "free bonus" novella that was advertised months ago)

Does anyone else feel like Hip Games has really dropped the ball on this release in the US? I can't find it at ANY stores in this area, with or without the "free" novella. The nearest place I can find that claims to have it is EB - but a) they're 50+ miles away, and b) I refuse to shop there...

Thanks for any information.

John

... and it isn't listed under "Role Playing" at all! After a site search, it turned up in the "Action & Adventure" category, even though their "overview" clearly says "Play Beyond Divinity today to experience a roleplaying game in an amazing and creative universe."

I also noted, as you have already pointed out, Lord_Bubba, that there is no mention whatsoever of the novella.

Can anyone comment on the distribution in the U.K.? Is the -and-novella pack readily available in the stores over there?
