Has anyone effectively used the Death Knight as a warrior past the first act? I'm currently near the beginning of the second act with a warrior DK and he's just not cutting it on Tactical difficulty. He dies VERY quickly and goes through healing potions like crazy. The main problem I see with a DK warrior is the fact that his base armor class increases VERY slowly(starts at 5 armor, 12 armor at 11th level), heck my main character is a mage and has the same armor class as my warrior DK.
My current DK is level 11(+3Str, +1Agi, +1Con each level,) with his skill points split between his weapon skill and his armor skill, and a 18 armor rating(12 base, 6 from equipment), and is using a Two handed hammer which does 80+ damage for each hit.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong with my DK warrior? The only things I can think of doing to improve him is pumping his Con so he doesn't die as fast or giving him a one handed weapon and shield(but then it takes longer for him to damage enemies).

I have my DK as a warrior and my hero as an archer, though could have done that the other way around.
Stop boosting strength (except for equipment requirements) until you get your agility up. Your chance to hit and be hit are probably not very good (check the trophy list). Also, since you are neglecting survival and speed your initiative is not going to be very good, nor is your evasion or hit rate. Basically, the enemy hits first, faster and more accurately, while you swing less often, miss more often and take longer to recover from attacks.

Unlike many other RPGs, for melee characters Agi is much more important that Str.

I thought that was being fairly pleasant.... New or not they should understand the way a forum works and spamming is unpleasant and not required.
As far as the answer goes... what he said.

It is also rude. One person is asking the same question in numerous threads, none of which relate to his or her problem. It's the equivalent of a person walking through a crowded restaurant, lurching up to one occupied table after another, sitting down, and insisting on starting up a conversation about his favorite subject before quickly leaving again.
Back to theme: I'm using the DK as a warrior, while my PC is a mage/archer. Yes, I know this isn't powerplaying, but who cares? My only regret is that a spell like the fire missile, even at level 4, does such miserable damage. But then, perhaps it ultimately goes to level 20; I don't know. A lot of useful information is missing from the manual, in my opinion.

But then, perhaps it ultimately goes to level 20; I don't know. A lot of useful information is missing from the manual, in my opinion. You can train to level 10 in any skill, assuming you find the right teacher. Just think of the mana requirements of a level 10 fire missile, though, even if you don't add other elements to it. I'm playing the same combo as you. I've only just finished Act 1, so I'm hoping there are more teachers of mage skills relatively soon. I want to specialize in fire spells, but so far I have to be content with training my mage to be an archer and using fire arrows to be effective in combat. I've heard the DK can have problems in the later Acts with combat, but I'm hoping that a strategy of focusing on alternate skills like poison, evade and armor use and pumping up my critical hit chance will see me through (unlike the mage, my DK has not had a problem finding useful skills). Also stats like survival and speed in addition to strenght, agility, and con are very useful. Another thing I've noticed is that it seems like (especially for the combat skills) you put a point in something you get a big benefit, but further points result in lower benefits. Almost seems like the devs want you to spread out your skill points to multiple skills to be most successful, at least from my perspective.

Actually for like the 2-3rd pts you put into a skill the gain is relatively small. But the next 4-6 could be large again. The advancement in damage for example does this.

Yeah I wasn't seeing much of a point in upping my damage on slashing above 1 since the gain was really tiny. Then a friend mentioned that around skill level 5 the damage upgrades a lot larger.

That's odd. You would expect either a straight incline, or an arch. I've noticed that 5 points (at this point) really doesn't make fire missiles anymore effective than flashlights. Maybe my archer/mage PC should take up a new career when he leaves Samuel's Bar and Beach Resort, like tourguide.
