As you can assume from the title, I just started my first run on Tactician difficulty.

I decided to do a gimmick run of four Summoners. They would use different weapons. one would be a dual-wielding fighter, another a single-dagger shadowblade, one a ranger, the fourth a wand.

I fought the level 2 Turtles on the hidden beach. They exploded on death. At first I was a bit mad, then I realized that the explosion was actually my fault for not using Examine on the Turtles. Surely, if I had bothered to do that, I would have realized that they had the Unstable Talent and would explode on death. So I reloaded.

The enemies do NOT have the Unstable Talent. So now I'm back to "a bit mad".

I don't mind if enemies explode on death, even if it screws over melee builds more than it should. I DO mind not having any warning that can happen. The difficulty is not called "LOL, pranked - better reload!", it's called "Tactician".

Enemies which explode on death should have some indication which they will do so ahead of time. Like carrying a big bomb on their backs, or having a special status effect, or having "Unstable" in their Talent list.

You're only at the beginning of a long, unforgiving path. You'll want to brace yourself for much worse ahead, friend.

It is less about tactic and more about testing out what they have and then reload save to prepare what is to come.

Be wary of foes which bleed fire, oil or ooze. They tend to explode on death.
