What is your current setup? Who are your party members, what are their roles, what abilities do they have?

Okay, that's a 2/2 Physical Damage/Magic Damage party. I assume the tank is a one-handed + shield person.

That setup seems reasonable. (You could change from one-handed + shield to a two-handed weapon, to do more damage, but 1H + Shield should be perfectly viable.) Your Rogue and other fighter take on enemies with low physical armor, your two mages take on enemies with low magical armor.

If your fire mage gets killed from their spells often, it suggests that you need more practice not killing yourself with spells.

Unlike traditional party RPGs, this one works better if they all do one type of damage. Substitute a ranger who specializes in bow for one of the spellcasters, make your mage be a summoner who also heals (water-based, I think).

By stripping away physical armor, you can actually start hurting enemies faster.

As for killing yourself with your own spells.... I don't know what to say about that. Turn off the party AI and control them.
