Larian Studios Forums Divinity: Original Sin 2 Divinity - Original Sin 2 - Bugs & Technical Problems Game won't launch since updating to DE

My game was running perfectly before I was forced to update it. Now it WILL NOT LAUNCH. Not once. I've tried EVERYTHING in the solutions. I tried started the game from the EoCapp. That's when I get popups about missing redistributables, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE THEM. I tried restarting PC to see if that would fix something. No. I tried validating through properties. No.

Is there any way I can un-update this game to go back to when it was actually functioning?

After reinstalling Divinity for A SECOND TIME, it still doesn't work. So, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Steam itself, and am now reinstalling Divinity AGAIN. If Divinity still doesn't work after this, does anyone know if Steam would refund a game that I've had for a year because the game itself has stopped functioning? It would be an entire waste of my time and support when the game was broke by a recent update that I can't even reverse.

If you get a black screen and unresponsive computer, have you tried switching to fake full screen (I.e. borderless window) or window mode modifying the [MyDocs]\\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition\graphicSettings.lsx?

I don't get a black screen. It pops up the "Preparing to launch" from Steam, which disappears within 2 seconds, but the game doesn't run at all afterwords. No icon pops up on the toolbar, and I've checked task manager countless times to see if it's running somewhere somehow. Still no.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled last night, took about 8 hours, but I don't even have a folder for it anywhere. I just tried your solution by going into my docs and into the Larian folder, but it doesn't exist. I have Divinity 1 Enhanced Edition, also from Steam, and its folder is there, but not Divinity 2 even though I literally just reinstalled it. It's not even in my program files. So that was 8 hours wasted yet again on this game that no longer even works.

This BS all started when I updated to DE. That is literally what broke my game. I was playing it a few hours before the update, and it was running absolutely perfectly, but as soon as I update it it stops working. And I've tried everything I know in order to get it to work, but it still refuses to do so. At this point I'm just going to have to talk to Steam about refunding the game, and then getting the game from another site somewhere that isn't connected with Steam.

I have the same problem although i played the DE before, but today it won't launch, i identify this error.

The game works if I use the EoCApp.exe, but i want a better solution than making a shortcut, please what can i do to fix this error.
