Hi.
just to let you now I've been experiencing a systematic freeze of my PC (windows 7+NVidia Gefore 970), fully up to date since DOS2 DefEd (in dual monitor setup). Both with the Classic & DefEd executables. No sound. No video. The application buttion barely appears (frame) in the taskbar, the primary screen goes black. There is some disk activity and a flash after a couple minutes, for a handful of seconds, but without further effect. Keyboard and mouse become fully unresponsive. Frozen display on the second monitor (task manager, network monitor, clock...). Only a hard reset gets me out of it ... and required sometimes some disk checking and resinstalling/repairing the DOS2 installation.
I've tried everything proposed here and elsewhere, and finally got it to work... after a (full wipe+) clean reinstallations of all the redists (probably useless in my case), nvidia drivers (also useless), full immunity in my protection systems for all executables (antivirus, firewall, process controller...) and heightened execution rights (admin).
What made it work in the end is preventing DOS2 from going full screen, editing the preferences (in the proper folder "[documents]\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition\graphicSettings.lsx") .
Even now, if I switch to fullscreen in-game, it completely freezes my PC.
With no event logged by windows, no crash dump, nothing to trace it.
I wasted so much time on that before trying the windowed & fake fullscreen (borderless window) modes. Just because I thought the issue was elsewhere... I'd rather have played.
I would tag this as solved, except that the issue is not solved, just avoided.
Anyway, thanks Larian for another 'upgraded' edition of a great game.
