So I was playing with v3.0.171.819 but after DE came out with version 3.6.29.1090 we discovered that as Lone Wolf, you cannot spend more than 5 points into combat skills. I think being able to spend 10 points (so 20 with Lone Wolf) was good. I believe this to be a bug as I have not found any patch notes saying that this has been changed.

You missed the really big note. It's not a bug, that's now how Lone Wolf works in the DE, because it was overpowered before.

Thank you for the info, however I do not like this change. I am not seeing how this was overpowered before, now the game puts even more artificial limits on my characters.

It was not "overpowered". It was straight up broken. And no it's not an overstatement. You just need to do a quick search for "DOS2 lone wolf" through Google, you'll see.

I have to echo the last poster's comment. Lone wolf was and still is objectively much stronger than alternatives. People throw around terms like overpowered and broken frequently to express this.

As a devoted fan of Larian and Divinity 2 - my group has nearly 100 finished campaigns with groups sizing from 1 to 4 in nearly all possible configurations. Our sincere conclusion is that the change to Lonewolf did not succeed in making Lonewolf a balanced option. It is still another form of easier difficulty - which is FINE. We recently banned its use from any of our future campaigns because it significantly reduces the challenge and as an extent the fun of the game for us.

Disclaimer: If you enjoy Lonewolf - that is great! The purpose of this post is not to look down at those that want to use it, but rather to clearly state that its use reduces the difficulty of the game. At the end of the day play the way you want to play and enjoy this great game!
