Hello.
I bought D:OS2 DefEd last days.
Whenever i want to play it with my W10 system and my domain user (domain admin) i get the FileSystem error: Failed to create dir: \\?\\.

The Documents folder it redirected to my synology NAS.
When i start the classic edition of original sin 2, the game starts flawless. A folder is created in my redirected documents and i can configure the game.
Game starts with Divinity Original Sin 1: Enhanced Edition, too.

Only the Definitive Edition runs into the error.
When i create a local user (without folder redirection) and start D:OS2 definitive edition the game starts without problems, too.

When i start the game as domain user with redirected folders, i cannot start the game "as administrator" too. I get the same error message.

Do you have any ideas left?

Oh... Bitdefender and Antivirus Software has been deactivated to testing, too.

I have been having this same issue and haven't been able to find anything that works.

Likewise.

I tried a symbolic link to redirect the folder back to my c: drive, which has worked in the past. It didn't work here unfortunately.

My file server is Windows 2016, I also tried turning off UAC in the server registry, which has also fixed file issues for me previously. Again, nothing.

It seems the save path is hardcoded, I think we will have to wait for Larian or run the game under an account which doesn't have a redirected documents (hassle !).

I was able to create another administrator account and everything worked without issue. Still won't work on my normal windows account, but its something I guess.

An issue for me too. I look around and see people have had this problem for a long time - surprised it isn't fixed yet.

I have tried everything I can with my limited knowledge. Reinstall the game, verify game cache in steam, open the exe file with admin.

It all worked before this update, so i find this really weird. The thing is I can still open the game if in classic mode, no errors and i can create a new character and play, but I can not save or load any game. To which I have tried to switch cloud saving instead, I have tried to to delete all other saves incase those were corrupted. I have tried deleting the save game folder and creating a new one (followed a tutorial online to not screw up).

This is a really really annoying problem. I would love to play the new definitive edition, and I see a lot of people online with the same problem and I can't find any information from the devs about this? Am I just bad a googling?

I can confirm I also hit this. The problem for me was that on installing Windows 10 anew, it started putting save files in the cloud at OneDrive. After cleaning up that library path and of course properly moving around my PlayerProfiles folder to the Documents folder of my User Profile... I cannot get my this game to properly recognize the Documents folder under my user profile now. Somewhere... in a config file... or a registry entry... it is reading in the location of this old OneDrive Document Library path and since it is gone bombs out with this error when starting the game.

I tried uninstalling, downloading, and reinstalling the game from Steam and it didn't help. It would probably work under a different user account... I imagine... but I don't want to do that and there should be an easy way to fix this damn problem.
