This is a fine skill, my beef is requiring it on more than one character. (Required being, completionist approach to all available quests in games.) Ifan has it, so I've been using him. Oh, wait, Sir Lora is too snooty to speak with Ifan so now I need Pet Pal on my main who is Noble (which I haven't done because other things are too valuable for character building). Oh wait, now I need a Pet Pal on the Red Prince in order to open a chest because once again a damn animal is too picky to speak with Ifan.

I'd be fine with this Pet Pal thing if I could treat it like loremaster: one and done. How frustrating would it be to need to level loremaster across the party in order to identify things? Because that is what the current Pet Pal set-up feels like.

1) you don't need pet pal on your main for Sir lora. just shoo him away.
(it's not a joke, he'll go to survivor's enclave where you can recruit him as another character like Ifan)

2) you don't need a pet pal on your Red prince. there are multiple ways to solve that quest. for example you can use another lizard ot turn yourself into one with a mask. or you can use an elf and eat a particular body part...or...

also yes, pet pal may be very valuable..but it's definitely not mandatory. I were very relieved when I decided that I don't want to have this talent anymore in act2(cuz my party always rushed forward and I have almost no chance to speak to animals first). besides if you'll really need it you can always go to the mirror..
