Larian Studios Forums Divinity: Original Sin 2 Divinity - Original Sin 2 - Bugs & Technical Problems Lost save due to power outage

I was playing on honour mode, and had just saved when power cut out in my entire building. Now the game won't allow me to load that same save. I was not in combat and was not close to death. Is there a way for me to continue my game and not have to start over?

I've already tried turning off steam sync, creating new profile and copy paste the save to the new profile.

Contacted support, this was their response.

If applicable, Steam keeps a copy of the profile in its install folder, to use when syncing, so you could try searching there, as well (Steam usually syncs automatically when exiting the game, and restarting should always trigger a sync, if required).

You can try a file recovery program such as Recuva, but it is unlikely you would be able to completely restore previous versions of overwritten/corrupt files. In general, the more you use the computer after files are deleted or overwritten, the less likely they will be recoverable.

With the Steam version, if your previous save is still online (Steam did not sync), you should be able to download it using the program Steam Cloud File Manager Lite. You need to be logged in to the Steam client and have the game's AppID (435150).

Using Steam Cloud File Manager Lite successfully restored the save, uncorrupted. All the local saves were corrupt because of the power outage.
