The first is a reward for helping an imp cure his poisoned brother on the pit level of act 1. The second can be found in the spider forest of act 2.

Yes, there are, but your maximum is 3.

One in Act 1
One in Act 2
One in Act 3 - goes at the end
One in Act 4.

I must be doing something wrong with summoning dolls. I've tried repeatedly to use the Skeleton doll, even giving it weapons and using hard-earned skill points to raise its level. But when I summon it, the darned thing disappears within 30 seconds. Just goes poof. Not even enough time to cross a room, let alone get a whack in battle. What's going on here? Am I doing something wrong, or is 30 seconds the limit per summon?

I think there may be a skill that adds to the length of time the summoned creature hangs around.

Its radius based, with radius upgrades, even 1 point of radius upgrade gives them quite a large distance compared to none.

I wasn't referring to the physical space a summoned creature could traverse, but to the length of time the creature remains in existence. Am I wrong?

I should have quoted DiAnna not you, but I was implying that theres probably no time limit, and if there is one you cant increase it, just respawn duration.

Summoning dolls can stick around indefinetely, as long as they do not move too far from where they are summoned (they will turn red when nearing that boundary). Entering or exiting buildings, caves, the battlefields, etc will kill them, as will using the teleporter pyramids over long distances.
I often left the skeleton at the start of an area to load loot into, or sell it if there were merchants.

Then something is definitely wrong, because after summoning my skeleton stands in the same spot for 30 seconds, then disappears. Poof. I've resummoned him time and time again, and the same thing happens. Damn. This really is irksome, since the use of summoning dolls was such a big selling point of BD.

Thanks for the response, though. I figured it was some kind of bug in my particular game, but was hoping there was a cure somewhere.

Do dolls start with any skill points assigned? I haven't really used them at all...

I don't think they start off with any skills, but you can give them skill points. So far i have just been using them as mules and trap disarmers.
