Neither do I. That seems to be the BD creedo... don't tell the player anything and don't tell them what anything does... not charms, not alchemist herbs, not skills. If they're too stupid to figure stuff out through trial and error, they don't deserve to finish the game!

[/Frustrated Sarcasm]

I feel slightly better for having vented. Yes, it would be nice if someone could let us alchemy-challenged know how to use our expensive, hard-won skill. It may be something embarrassingly simple, but if the manual doesn't explain it and we can't figure it out, it becomes one more annoyance in a game that is building annoyances by the hour. Once we figure out how to do it, then it's a simple matter of gathering up all our herbs, then doing quicksave/quickload for about two hours whilst taking copious notes so we can figure out which herb we need to make the potion we want. *sigh*

I truly question some of the BD design decisions. The game itself is fun. The gameplay is driving me nuts.

You just need to right click on an alchemy plant to extract potions, however I have not played with this yet, and do not know which plants are required to make various potions.

To use extract, you need alchemy plants. You always need more than one type of plant (in your inventory) to make a certain type of potion. Right click an alchemy plant in your inventory and try it out <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

As you can see in the following list, there are 7 different plants you need to make all potions with the "extract" skill. You will only get level 3-5 in Act 4. Empty flasks are not required.
Level 1 => small potions
Level 2 => medium potions
Level 3 => large
level 4 => large (stronger) + permanent potions + holy water (quest reward)
level 5 => large (even more stronger) + perm potions in vitality, mana, stamina are stronger, too.

vitality => red, blue
mana = green, pink
stamina => white, orange
strength => red, blue, yellow
int => white, green, pink
agility => white, orange, green
survival => red, blue, green
con => orange, yellow, pink
speed => orange, white, yellow

restoration => can only be done with the "combine skill" => dragging red over blue potions.

Nope, not besides restoration. All other potions are "extracted".
