So I recently played a demo of a Kickstarter game using the 5E ruleset. It was very nice and felt pretty good actually playing with the DnD rules. One thing I noticed was how they not only tracked encumbrance but also item size. This gives it a different feel entirely. One must choose carefully what items they want to collect as they have limited space in their backpacks. Weight is not the only consideration, but the size as well. You won't be carrying 100 swords in your backpack while fighting off a band of orcs even if you're wearing a belt of giant strength. You just won't have room to carry all that stuff.

This can add to the RPG feel to me and I was impressed it was included. It does make me hope they add hirelings, horses, etc. though. Would be nice if you want to collect every item dropped you would have to walk it back to your camp and load up your pack mules, otherwise, you have hard decisions to make.

What are your thoughts on this?

They do have that in the demo actually. I does limit you of course but if you find that one extra-high-value weapon that is too large to add to your pack you can use the sling (if you don't already have it in use). I always felt it strange in so many RPG's that it became necessary to try to loot every item possible to add cash that is sort of became ridiculous on the number of items one would amass in their backpacks. Now a bag of holding could, of course, come into play here, but in many ways is more valuable than in games that don't track the size as well as weight.

The inventory limits in Solasta try to be realistic. Backpack aside(You actually see your backpack), you have a back slot for bow/crosbow and quiver, a sheath in the belt slot for bladed melee weapons and the weapons you have in your hands. The armor are the usual torso-boots, helmet. Also satchets for herbs and stuff like in DOS and POE games.
