I had like 100+ hours on Divinity Original Sin 1, a couple of hours earlier I reached the Master spells requirements and that's when I figured out how broken the combat design was. Master spells made the game so easy I actually quit the game and was angry on whoever designed this slap to my face on their so called highest difficulty.

I felt betrayed and actually wanted my money back since I have a very serious problem with brain dead difficulty games, if a game is so easy you never straggle then it's garbage to me, this is just how my brain works. and yes it is a problem because it's very hard to enjoy video games now days since the common sheep are the main audience and so video games now days are brain dead easy.

I was lucky enough to find a mod called Epic Encounters, basically making DOS1 into a much harder game (enemies have more AP, health, take less damage from explosions thanks to higher elemental resistance, so no more easy kills with poison+fire and they use potions and what not a lot more) late game Master Spells are also nerfed while a lot of new spells and crafting was added.

so with this mod the game is a lot harder and has a lot more options to play with (stealth is actually more viable than vanilla but not broken like it was before it was patched to useless)

I'm going to start playing the second game soon and I don't want to put another 100 hours into it just to find out that I am now able to steam roll all the enemies because my build is to strong or that enemies are just to dumb. I'm pretty sure Epic Encounters 2 is not out yet, I am however willing to wait.

my question is basically "is it worth to play DOS2 vanilla or should I wait for the mod to be finished"? because once again, if at any point the game becomes to easy I am sure to rage quit XD (please note that I don't try cheese strategies or look up online for the most broken OP builds, I just play normally and expect the game to be a challenge from start to finish as all video games should be, but aren't, because of the children sheep that scream "games are to hard")

I found Tactician mode about right. "Good enough" for me. Even when you figure out ways to make the toughest fights a breeze, they're still generally quite intense, enough so that you should still be able to enjoy them.

If you look up essential mods for DOS2, there are two mods called "Enemy Randomization" and "More Monster Spawn", which sound like exactly the kind of mods you'd want. So no worries either way.
