Was just poking around the forums and saw this. The crafting bibles are is specific locations. Cranley Hewbert's Encyclopedia is scattered everywhere and one of the volumes can pop up just about anywhere except as a quest reward.
I posted this last April. In case you are curious, I have Crafting Bibles 1-17 except for #16. Not sure where that little bugger is, but a couple of them are quite difficult to find or get to, so perhaps there is a secret dig location I have missed. Here are the locations for 1-15, 17.
1. (Food) Amadia's Sanctuary : where Feder sits after you turn her human. If you are in classic edition, get the book prior to turning Feder from a pig to back to a human.
2. (Food/Drinks) Driftwood Black Bull Tavern : it is in a locked chest behind the bar. To get it you will need to drink with the elf at the bar until she passes out, otherwise she is looking right at it. Also, I recommend finishing "Love has a Price" quest and killing the waiter that sets you up. That waiter roams the bar and you will have to talk to him to keep him from seeing what you are doing. Since you will be stealing the book, you will need to sell it to a vendor and buy it back to get rid of the "Stolen" flag on it.
3. (Weapons) chest you dig up near Wendigo : When you kill the crocs to get the Teleporter Gloves there are some bodies on the shore. It you search around there will be a note than indicates where a chest is in the Hallow Marshes, not far from Windego. In that chest you will find the book.
4. (Armor) behind Tower of Braccus Rex : After completing the maze, you can circle around the Tower of Braccus Rex. Around back your will find a place to climb down and here you will find an elven skeleton. The skeleton has the book on it. FYI : You can use this back route to completely bypass the maze. However, you will miss out on loot and XP from doing the maze. Also, the gargoyle at the front of the tower will call you a cheat and you won't get the bonus XP and loot from the gargoyle for completing the maze.
5. (Potions) Tower of Braccus Rex : room through the pipe, leaning up against a statue in the corner
6. (Grenades) Bridgekeeper's House : In a desk in the bedroom of the house by the bridge. They shall not pass quest.
7. (Arrows) Behind Fingal Boyd : Just south of Paladin Bridgehead by a bush. (North of Driftwood gallows)

8. (Pyrokinetic Scrolls) Burning pigs : Up on a platform in the middle of the pigs and under a tarp
9. (Hydrosophist scrolls) loot from Decomposing Cryomancer with Voidwoken Deep-Dweller
- Armor of Frost, Restoration, Soothing Cold, Winter Blast
10. (Geomancer scrolls) In a treasure box you have to find near the Crocs
11. (Aerotheurge scrolls) Vault of Braccus Rex : Room with the 2 riddles
- Blinding Radiance, Eletrical Discharge, Favorable Wind, Shocking Touch, Teleportation
12. (Necromancer scrolls) Blood Rose Cave (Dragon's Beach Cave) : In skulls behind Radeka
- Blood Sucker, Decaying Touch, Infect, Raise Bloated Corpse, Shackles of Pain
13. (Summoning scrolls) Tower of Braccus Rex : Room with the caged zombie on a bookshelf near the caged zombie
- Elemental Totem, Rallying Cry
14. (Polymorph scrolls) On the Magister Metamorth in the fight at the end of Act 1
15. (small runes) On drowned scourcerer : The body will need to be dug up. It is buried next to the broken boat by Driftwood's East gate.

Last I checked the books were still in these locations. Books 2 and 15 were checked only about 4 hours prior to this post.
