I'll start by saying how unbelievably good the demo was and how excited my friends and I are to play the game!
One thing that stood out as "odd" to all of us though was the choice to have 'I play', followed by 'the CPU plays', kinda like X-COM, instead of the traditional initiative system all D&D versions had - which is also similar to the initivate DoS had.
There was a comment from one of the interviewers at PAX that mentioned "Larian chose this to deliver large scale battles".
I understand that asking for more info right now is probably pointless but our concern mainly lies on the absence of a traditional D&D initiative system. Since it doesn't have combat encounters in the way a game like X-COM does, it feels like it would make some fights unfair (either in favour of the player or against the player).
What are everyone's thoughts about this choice?
