Based on the forum I'm in, naturally I surmise some sort of RPG would be the most favored type of game. That's why I'm here too, but just out of curiosity... RULES: Can only be up to 5 favorite and 3 anticipated games. Any platform, any genre, any year... what are (up to 5) of your favorite games that you have ever played and (up to 3) of the most anticipated games your looking forward to? In no particular order here are my... Favorite 5 Games: Planescape Torment Baldur's Gate 2 Diablo III Pillars of Eternity 2 Path of Exile 2 Anticipated 3 Games: Diablo IV Baldur's Gate 3 Star Citizen There were 100's of games that I've played since the 70s. The old games were great back in the day but times change and I look forward to what advancements bring to any gaming platform. I cannot permit this to end without a few Honorable Mentions such as: Descent, X Wing vs Tie Fighter, Jane's USAF, Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord, Neverwinter Nights, Skyrim, Freespace 2, Total Annihilation, Zork I, D&D 'The Temple of Elemental Evil', Command & Conquer: Red Alert and the list goes on an on.... Finding my favourites is rather easy: Which games did I play several times and enjoyed them every time.
I did finish BG1+2+ToB, but when I tried to play it later, I quit at some point because I was bored. I already knew the story and the quests. So it was just pre buffing, click enemies to death, rest and repeat.
I like those favourites because they are quite philosophical sometimes, making me think about stuff from the real world sometimes. Playing them again some years later can give you some new thoughts because you and the world have changed in the meantime.
I hope the anticipated games have a high replay value because you have so many different choices. In BG you could chose to do a quest or not and sometimes to finish it good or evil, but non of this influenced the outcome of the main quest.
