I've been trying to do a villain playthrough but lately the tag just wont trigger!It has all the previous times triggered when I lied to Unnis to get all her supplies and was mean to her kid,as well as leaving everyone on to die on the boat,but recently the tag has failed to be applied,

Have you tried killing some NPCs? At least in the latest version, just extorting Unnis and leaving everyone to die on the boat will not give the villain tag.
Checking now, killing the companions on the boat, extorting and then killing Unnis after being mean to the kid was not enough to get the tag, but after entering Fort Joy and siding with the thugs against the elf and Ifan, the villain tag was awarded as soon as combat started. If I tried a custom character, it may have triggered earlier, with an extra companion to kill.

I've definitely done that in past though by then I normally have the tag by then,on the whole I don't go around murdering NPCs willy nilly.I'll see if I can get the tag to trigger again though..
