Since they have been experimenting with other races, such as Gythyanki and vampire spawn, I hope maybe they try a Werebear too.

Years ago I played a Ravenloft campaign where I played as a solitary Ranger who meets the party that had just been sucked into the realm.

That campaign was very well DMed...the atmosphere was carefully managed.

My character as a Werebear Ranger had a lot of depth..and in Ravenloft he was not too strong either.
I don´t think my claws could hurt as magical weapons..so..I often had to fight in human form...the lycanthropy was mostly for role playing purposes.

so...maybe someday they decide to implement a Gothic Ravenloft story with this BG3 engine...that would be one suggestion for possible race.

possible endings would be (1) getting out of Ravenloft (2) becoming some Count, (3) "curing" the lycanthropy,...etc.

Not sure what you mean be 'experimenting'. Githyanki is already a race in 5E. Vampire spawn as well. Werebear is a CR5 creature so that's not going to be an option.

There are rules in 5e for characters being infected by Lycanthropy, including werebears and weretigers, don't confused the example were creatures provided in the MM with the rules for players infacred by tge disease (and there are rules for PCs being infected).

I'm not sure I follow completely but I'll just say that I doubt they are going to work lycanthropy in to the game. I don't disagree that it would be cool...many moons ago I played a paladin that sought out a werebear to become one and gain the benefits to my stats, but I think it is out of the scope of the game enough to not merit looking into for release. As far as I have read, in D&D 5E all lycanthropy except werebear is evil and your alignment changes to evil because of it unless you find a cure. Again, I think it could be cool but I wouldn't hold your breath for it.

True...

I see there is a lot of cool enhancements already in this game...I guess it was just a mix of expectations and nostalgia.
Hopefully it will be cool to play with both PC and pre-made characters..
