That's one of the many things that I love Dragon's Dogma for, considering in that game I can play a male character with the bodytype and body posture that I need my character to have in order to properly enjoy playing and looking at my character.

Right? Whenever I make a mage, I like doing the stereotypical old bookworm guy. Its hard to do that when he looks like he's been doing nothing but cramming protein shakes and lifting for the last 70 years.

+100

Hard to make a bookish Oghma cleric guy and end up looking like this:

Should the player model reflect the class? In other words, Warriors should be built for strength, rogues for athletics, and spell casters, basic physical fitness. Remember that we are adventurers and if we can't survive the outdoors, then we should have a body to reflect our ability to be able to rough it out. I don't care how many spells I can fling, if I can't walk a few miles in the wilderness, I shouldn't have left magical university.

If you're building off of a generalization for each class sure, but playing with flaws, even perceived ones, can add immersion to people. Take Raistlin Majere, granted he's from Dragonlance and not FR, but he was notoriously frail to the point of not easily walking a few miles in the wilderness.

To use a non-established character example you could easily make a Dex based Fighter who isn't going to necessarily be swole. If you're going with Eldritch Knight they could even be Int focused and look frail compared to other Fighters. Now granted not everyone is going to want that, but having some control over our body type would allow people to play around more with different feeling characters and attach ideas to them more readily. Classes are only meant to be a general idea of the characters background, it doesn't necessarily reflect what they may look like.

For me personally I hope that we can at least have a few basic body types, as I'm rather skinny and like to make characters like that. Everyone has different ideas though, and the more choices we have to bring our characters to life the better, at least in my opinion.

It´s not about the class, but the character. You can build a dexterous fighter with 8 strength or a sorcerer with 8 con and in most games, it still looks like Schwarzenegger.

I could try to play an old druid with a staff and there´s a difference between being in good shape and look like...

Yep, I really feel like even 3 basic options would work and be doable. I just want a wee bit of customization.

Is there a game where your stats reflect your appearance or vice versa? Curious if nothing else.

I think the first Fable game tried to do that? Peeeersonally not a fan of the idea, since it would just cement the fact that I just don't do strength builds, and it makes it more difficult to reflavour a build to fit RP when your characters appearance displays the official flavour.

Just giving a couple body options to choose from would be neat though. Tall/med/short, lean/average/lean muscle/muscle with fat, something like that. Don't expect it, but would appreciate it.

You can never go wrong with more customization options, specially when it's a game that targets roleplay. I do hope that we get at least three bodies to choose from, but...

I really would have liked sliders, for both the faces and the body.

An elven maid with massive boobs firing arrows at the enemy. It's fantasy, everything is possible! Let's go! smile

I think the conversation system is the biggest reason for this. We will see close ups of our character emoting and responding to dialogue. It will be more immersive if we have more say in what they look like to a greater degree imo.

Have to bump this, because it would be epic if Larian could add these options to the game. It would truly give another dimension to the character creation process

I think it would be wonderful if we got to option to play fat, skinny and buff, so you can play that obese and yet somehow miraculously dexterous gnome rogue that you always secretly wanted to play. As well as a height slider to play the ultimate giant barbarian caveman. grin

I've gotten used to the unfortunate reality that even my custom character that's supposed to represent me is going to be 6'2" and 210 lbs of muscle and vascularity.
I'd love to see more body shape options, but I'm not sure that outside of a generic "thin, average, or husky" system that we're ever going to see more accurate body types from any game any time soon.

I don't want to fall to bits 'cos of excess existential thought.
