I've just started DOS2 for the first time and wanted to make a Necromancer, but having read some stuff online I see it scales off of Warfare? Is that right? I thought that Necromancy is what would increase the damage of the Necromancy skill line?

I don't like making Hydro builds at all, and prefer to focus solely on a single type of damage per character in my party, so if Necro means I'm gonna have to invest points into both Necromany AND Warfare then I'll just have to pick a different school of magic instead. Can I not just ignore Warfare and pump all points into Necromancy in order to increase the damage/effectiveness of the Necro skills?

In DOS1 I didn't Hybrid and managed to do just fine, and was hoping to do the same in DOS2.

On a related note, if I'm gonna go with a different magic type instead of Necro, then my first choice would be Pyro... But that's also another issue I'll have, as my healer is Hydro based. So having Pyro + Hydro party members they're gonna cancel each other out aren't they?

Yes, necro scales with warfare (and intelligence). Increasing necro level will increase your lifesteal.
You can mix hydro + pyro mithout problems.

btw, i tryed both cases carrying lone wolfs:
In my current save i'm in the nameless island with physical dmg caster and a ranged, all is going wonderfull.
The last campaign before this, i did it with a pyro + geo caster and a hydro + aero caster, and more or less went pretty good. Just don't do things like throw fire damage vs fire slugs, venom VS undeads and etc.

Warfare boosts physical damage. As mentioned, Necromancer provides a healing boost based on damage the character does to vitality. Other than skill requirements, you can boost either or both based on your playstyle.

Does it matter if the necro-caster is undead (ie, healing)? I've often wondered why I was getting those small, blue numbers - never connected the dots.

it doesn't matter. A undead can be healed due to necro life steal
