Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - General A class for a new companion

We all agree one of the things that define a party-based CRPG worth his salt is the companions you find on the road. We know that we will have 5 companions for sure Wyll, Gale, Shadowheart, Asterion and Lae'zel.
Right now that´s all we have, but I remember that was the same in DoS2 and later on they surprised us with the stellar apparition of Fane (thanks backers for that). So I still have hope.

Now the question is If a new companion is made for BG3, what class, race and alignment do you prefer him/her/they to be? I´m genuinely curious here.

Paladin (any good); human or anything but tiefling. I just figure if they add a paladin companion it will be a tiefling because: "defy the stereotype" seems to be a thing.

that "defy the stereotype thing" is getting really old. I wish they would stop doing it.

I'm up for Monk or Ranger. Also a Halfling and dwarf anything would be good. But I do like dwarf fighters and clerics.

Frankly I would really enjoy some cheesy dnd stereotypes: like a half-orc barbarian, gnome bard or dwarf cleric. Do you guys know if half-orcs will be in with final release?

I have read everything I could but found nothing reassuring.

PS.: A half-orc druid would also be neat.

Half-orcs are in the PHB so they should be in full release; Swen said all PHB races/classes would be in.

I chose paladin.

Maybe a paladin of vengeance who has sworn to hunt and kill an evil creature.
Maybe this creature is the devil who offers us "help"?
So he has the dilemma to fulfill his oath but become an illithid or work for the creature he has sworn to kill in order to survive.
