I didn't liked critter faction in DD and I still don't in BD.
If you kill a rat or anything green, every single dumb rat on the planet know it and tries to kill you. Rule apply to cats, dogs, worm-like buggers, ...
Well, that's stupid at best. (telepathic link ?) But that not the real problem.
To kill those low-lifes is far from being mandatory. But the avatar handling being what it is (not the best ever) it's really easy to kill a rat while fighting something else or just by clicking on it while walking (or fleeing some bigger creature) I did that with the worm-like buggers (while fighting a kind of ancient turtle) and now I just can't walk in the first village of the game because those stupid things are everywhere. (And I can't go back where I first killed one of those.)
Is there a plan or a way to just disable that critters faction table ?

In DD it was less annoying. I had cats and dogs and rats trying to kill me everywhere but they are weak. (Still, I didn't liked to have to smash dogs & cats in every single town.) In BD it's worse because the critter I killed by accident is level 12. 3 or 4 on my level 14 tank & caster and they are toast. Since they can fight you while you are looking at an automated action (door opens, NPC speak) you can die without being able to do anything.

I don't recall that it was ever a problem in DD. Dogs eventually got annoyed with me... something about my killing the wolves that attecked me, which was irksome because I like dogs... but that was about it.
With BD every blasted step in every blasted map has the potential of stepping on a neutral creature and instant hostility. It is THE single most annoying feature in a game peppered with annoyances. It's not an exaggeration to say that I've reloaded well over a hundred times in the first two acts due to accidently turning neutral creatures hostile. I'm just about ready to throw role-playing out the window, scream "screw it!" and massacre everything I see just to get them the hell out of my way.

They're sweet, sweet experience, though, which is awfully nice. Oddly, the flame worm creatures and the rock biters are BETTER experience then the Guards and Mutants of Act 2, who are just awful.
Not like any amount of experience is significanly contributing to the hundreds of thousands it requires to go up a level, but hey, more kindling for the fire.
You will rue the day you opposed me! Begin your rueing! I'll just... sit over here... and watch.

I remember posting this in the impressions thread. I never did understand the telepathic link that tells all of the same species that the hero is a murderer. It's a little unbelievable. I suggested leaving the box from Act 1 in place, where it flashes up and says "A rat is a neutral character. Are you sure you want to hit rat and have all of the species hostile" or whatever. I really don't ever want to be a cat or dog if you're angry, btw.

Perhaps we need a Gameplay Option: Target Neutral Critters. If you turn it off, the little green circles under said creatures vanishes so you can never target them and get that annoying message. You can switch it on or off mid-game should you encounter a species worth genociding.

meanwhile, enjoy the extra experience. in act 2, you shouldn't be so high level that you cannot get experience from the Tibars still. now the frogs and lower level creatures, that is mosquito-like, as they swarm at you and fail to actually affect you, but do get in the way when fighting a horde of bigger critters that actually can hurt you. adds to the challenge i suppose so i don't mind really.
