Larian Studios Forums Divinity: Original Sin 2 Divinity - Original Sin 2 - Bugs & Technical Problems (PS4) Couch Co-Op Player 1 Can't Buy Skillbooks

Playing with my brother and had no issues until about 4 and 1/2 hours into the game. Bought a skillbook and went to buy a second one. I found that I couldn't.

I have enough money, but there isn't any deduction when I try, a clicking sound (not coin/cash sound when making a purchase), a normal closing circle around the book icon (usually to show you pressed "X" to buy) and the options at the bottom of the window change from "Sort, Buy, Show Details, and Close" to "Sort and Close." Moving the selection gives back normal options but repeats the same thing should I try to but them again.

This happens with any merchant, but only happens with skillbooks as testing it on something else lets me buy it. Player 2 seems unaffected (Otherwise we would have probably abandoned the save) and when reloading in single player with the same save, seems to not have any problems.

I think I was in the middle of buying the skillbooks when my brother transferred an item to me if that helps.

Please and thank you if anyone has a solution or if a dev takes notice of this weird bug.

If you switch to the barter section of the trade window, can you add skillbooks on the merchant side and buy them that way?

If you open Party management from the in-game menu and swaps who is controlling which character, do you still have this problem, or does if follow the character so your brother can not buy skillbooks?

If you load an older save, if available, can you buy skillbooks again?

Try clearing the PS4 cache: press and hold the PlayStation button on the controller, select 'Turn Off PS4', wait another 30 seconds after it finishes shutting down, and start it again.


If older saves are ok and this just happens in your recent saves, if possible please email supportdos2@larian.com with your latest save (or a Dropbox or Google drive link, etc), as well as the most recent save where you can buy skillbooks, and oldest that you can not (if you played for a while after this started).
The save(s) would need to be transferred to a USB flash drive first. In the Saved Data in System Storage section of the Settings menu, click Copy to USB Storage Device, select the relevant save(s) and Copy. From there you can zip the files on a computer, then copy to email or upload somewhere and provide a link.

Sorry for the hiatus. My brother ended up deleting that original after we got frustrated with it, but we are in luck! My newest save has a repeat of the bug (tested it and it seems to be the same and this time I think he might have been shopping at the same time I was).

Bartering does indeed seem to fix it... though if you offer the normal price they won't accept and you have to offer more for it to amount to anything. After buying one through it though I can buy them like normal for some reason. My brother also got me to try bartering a cheaper item first before buying the skill book and that seems to work as well.

Doing party management seems to have no affect and I do have an earlier save that I can buy them from. Since it seems to be save dependent, I don't think its related to the cache.

I will be sending the earliest before, the affected save, and the save after the "fix" so there can be a timeline for it. Maybe they'll figure it out and make sure the bug doesn't pop up again.
