Well, just received my copy of BD today and while it installs and while I download the patch I thought I might as well waste some forum space here.

First of all - congratulations to you, Larian, for finishing your latest game. I played and enjoyed DD a lot and was looking forward to the next one. Hopefully this one will be as good (or better). I'm a relatively old guy and does not usually get so excited about a game release.. but I'll have to admit that I've visited these forums quite a lot these last few days and I *was* a bit impatient for the postman to arrive today. I even bought your game at full price! (which is something I very rarely do - a benefit from being an old fart who likes to play old games is that you can find real treasures in the bargain bins Hell, I even pre-ordered BD, which is a first-time ever for me!

Anyway, some questions for you guys who has been playing a bit already:

1) I liked how DD played but I also enjoy the more tactical combat style of games like BG etc. What do you guys think of the two modes in BD (action and tactical)?

2) Is it save to apply a no-cd crack this time? I did so in DD but that resulted in a crash pretty late in the game (a movie/cutscene hangs). Being a game developer myself I can understand why copy protection is needed and all - but my cd-drive is so *noisy* And I like being able to switch between games without changing cd's.

3) Any things I should know before getting too far into the game (gameplay-wise/tactical.. ie. any "must-have" skills or "must-do" things? I like figuring stuff out myself as long as it's safe to do so - but I'm really impatient when it comes to replaying sections that I've already gone over.

2) that's just a luxury problem and if is the only game you need a CD for, then you don't need to switch either

3) apply the patch 1.4 (see announcements section)

last but not least: WELCOME to the forum

Hej Telemachos,

Nice with another Dane, NEO_CLAW and myself were feeling a bit alone.

I've had the game since Friday (guess my postman is faster than yours).

Since you can unlearn skills (for a fee) you can't go totally wrong. What you should know is that a new patch was released (1.4) but it had a few glitches and if all goes well there should be a 1.41 patch today.

Hejsa,

Where did you buy your copy? The dealer I used (SoftXchange) didn't have it until yesterday I believe.

Hmm.. hopefully the new patch will be compatible with my savegames. Where have this new patch been discussed (haven't seen it mentioned on this board - but ok, I haven't read all threads either).

Welcome to the forum and fasten your seat belt. You have entered another dimension, not just of sight and sound, but of mind... there is a signpost up ahead, you have entered the Beyond Divinity zone

Thanks!

I must say that up until now totally lives up to what I expected - I can feel myself being sucked in already and fear for my ability to work the next few days (I temporarily work from home atm and is president in my own company.. a dangerous cocktail when a cool game like comes along

Actually the timing couldn't be better: weekend comming up, girlfriend away for a few days, some junk-food and a bottle of red wine... Divinity time

As for the game itself: The battlefields seems like a cool thing but I wonder if they might shift balance a bit too much? They say that the game is completeable without going to the battlefields but I'm currently still on the first map in the main story but went to the battlefield - which already (not finished exploring it yet) gained me a couple of levels, opened a ton of new skills and got me something like 50 potions of healing. I don't think I'll have too much trouble finishing the citadel once I return (but we'll see

Directly from the publisher in the UK (Digital Jesters)

As of the patch Lar (aka Swen Vincke) mentions it in this thread
