Whenever I try to save the game, it crashes to the desktop...I have uninstalled and installed it multiple times, the last time I made sure all of my programs, including my antivirus, were disabled during the install. I am going to try changing the color depth and the resolution as I have seen in other posts, as I am running 1024X768 and 32 colors, but I was wondering if there is anything else I can try. I have been looking forward to playing this game ever since I heard about it and I am very frustrated right now!

I have more information, I dont' know if this is causing the problem....my Larian Studios folder, and all files/folders underneath it, is readonly! I can't seem to change it, though, whenever I change it,a nd then look at it again, it is readonly again. Why is this happening?

Thanks in Advance!

Yup, that is exactly why you're crashing during a save. The big question is why are all these installed folders read-only? Did any kind of error messages pop-up on the screen during the installation process? What version of Windows are you running?

I am running Windows XP Service Pack 1; for some reason all of the folders in my program files directory are read-only.

When selecting folders in XP and checking Properties, I believe the green square means 'unknown' (as in Windows doesn't bother checking). When selecting files, it means some are read-only and some are not.

I don't now how you're removing your read-only flags, so try this:

1) Right-Click on the folder "Larian Studios".

2) Click "Properties"

3) If the read-only flag is grey, click twice; if it's black/white, click once. Make sure the read-only flag is empty.

4) Click Ok.

5) Repeat steps 1 and 2 and confirm that this indeed took effect.

If this doesn't work, run scandisk to make sure your hard drive doesn't have any errors preventing you from making some file alterations. Also, is your profile the administrator account on the computer? Are you the only user of that particular computer?

I would just like to thank you for clear, specific and easy to follow instructions for what was quite an annoyance. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
