So I haven't really played DnD since 3.5e (yeah I know, late to the party over here...)
But as far as I remember, my melee damage should be better than the game's actual numbers are showing in combat?
For instance, I have 16 strength (so a +3 mod, right?) and I'm wielding a longsword two-handed, which apparently means it uses 1d10 for damage rolls.
The game's UI claims this is 1d10+3 damage, and that sounds right to me (well, ignoring two-handed bonus but I dunno if that's a thing in 5th edition)
However, many times I've dealt 1 damage with my strikes. Even after dipping my sword into something like fire, it still can deal 1. Shouldn't my minimum be 4, at the very least?
TL;DR is there an error in the damage calculation or am I being ignorant to 5th edition rules, and if so can someone explain to me how it works now? Thank you!
