Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Technical & Gameplay Problems Game crashes at 'PLAY' FIXED!!!!!!!!

Hi guys,

I downloaded and installed game at launch 6pm UK time. took 3 hours so loaded at 9pm

hit play and it crashed immediately. (for both Vulkan and D11) either crashes or black screen then crash. I have filed crash report with the larian reporter.

I tried several times and looked for fixes but too early for anyone to know what to do. I have abouve minimum requirements and win 7.

So far I have tried:
-redownlaoding
-verifying game on steam
-visual C++ 64 and 86 installs
-running from folder as admin
-updating drivers
-disabling steam overlay
-spamming the play button (as one steam user suggested)
-selling my soul to asmodeous

So far nothing has worked, my partner is at home while I'm at work trying to fix. Has anyone got the same issue?

I know early access will be buggy and I'm not mad but I thought I'd at least be able to play a bit!

If in case of vulkan you receive apphangb1, try to remove bg3 from windows firewall.

HI thanks for the hint, We will try this when I get home. Partner saw another fix that said ' launch bg3_dx11 from fodler as admin and hold shift as loads...sounds mroe like a cheat code to me but we will try anything!

FIXED: Hello Everyone,

So What I did to fix (and I have now played a bit of the game) is open game folder

click on BGE.exe (either the vulkan one or D11 dosnt matter)

then IMMEDIATELY hold shift untill you see larian logo play -then release.

Dont ask me why it works, but it does! Thanks for your help!
