I know there is probably some licensing reason why the combat system in this game needs to follow D&D rules, but I'm honestly finding the "one move, one action" thing to be very restrictive compared to the AP system used in the Divinity Original Sin series.
There just seems to be lesser tactics here, where mostly my moves involve "walk up to the enemy and smack him in the face once".

The best thing about D:OS was its combat system, and I think it's a shame not to leverage it.

If you equip a light weapon on your other hand you can cast a spell and attack as a bonus action

it's going to be a major source of division I imagine.

D&D 5e fans want it to be as close to that game as possible, D:OS fans are going to want it to be more like those games.

Ultimately, it's a D&D game, not a D:OS game, whilst Larian are clearly going to put their own flair on things, ideally it really should be as close to the former as possible. D&D as a truly class based system where the divinity games are very organic, everyone has magic and over the top abilities, which is really fun, but not really in keeping with D&D. Of course, there are also going to be BG1 & 2 fans that want the D&D 2e experience too, I myself played BG1 when it came out and religiously played it every year well into my late twenties. But I recognise the need to update, and am happy to see it be based on D&D 5e.

For my part, I'd like to see inconsistencies between BG3 and D&D5e be removed so that it is as true to pnp as possible.

hello MicrobicWalnut,

i played D:OS2 and can relate to your thoughts, but bg3 isnt (or should not) be the same as D:OS. From the D&D 5e rules you only have an amount of movement, one action, one bonus action and one reaction. thats it.

Another inconsistency with pnp, you're only supposed to be able to do that if you used the attack action, not cast a spell or use an item. spell then attack as bonus action is the remit of eldritch knights and valor bards..

No, the DOS surfaces are a plague and they are only good as 9 hells punishment!
