I'm currently replaying just the first part of the game on the illihid ship and maybe a little bit after on multiple characters both to try out different builds and explore everything that I can.
I already easily got to do this in many many replays of BG1&2, but I can use the EA to try out all the different builds and classes that I can think of before deciding what I would want to play in the final game. All the games I played based on 3.0 / 3.5 (NWN1 & 2 and DDO) needed you to spend ages levelling to really high levels to fully utilize and test different builds, but this seems to not be a problem in this game because of how much more each class can do right from the start.
The single biggest appeal to me in DnD based games is the massive multitude of character builds you can make and play around with, and while it seems that the 5th edition this game is based on has much more streamlined classes and much fewer multiclass options and potential, there is still just within this EA plenty of options, classes and builds that can be tried.
One critical difference I've noticed is that even from level 1, you already get a lot more things you can do, mainly from always being able to cast cantrips than you could in earlier rulesets such as when all that a level 1 wizard could do was cast a single magic missile then need to rest again. While 5th edition has much less options and a lower level cap, it doesn't feel like I am missing out because you get a lot more abilities to use from the very beginning.
