Just downloaded patch 1.41 so hopefully it will fix it. But in my game I have a max of 2000lbs I can carry but get encumbered at just over 1500. Anyone else having this problem?

Also, when you drink a agility, strength, etc. potion, the affects are temp right? Are there any permanate stat buffs in the game?

Encumbrance occurs below your total possible weight--3/4 of it, I think. When you're carrying your full weight load, you get a message that you can't carry anything else.

level 4 alchemy generates permanent stat potions. they are available in the game, for example the permanent suvival potion (i think that was the one) you find in act 1, secret shrine to samuel just south of Fergus chamber.

It will permanate right?

Yes, its effects are permanant. You can find those potions throughout the game, but you can only make them later on. They require a level of alchemy skill that's (wisely) restricted to teachers you won't find in the first few acts.

i'm right in thinking that adding points to strength per level increases your carry capacity?

is there anything in the game that reduces the weight of items contained in it. a potion bag for instance? (carrying 195 medium healths = approx. 500lbs. )

You're right: strength will increase the weight you can carry before reaching encumbered.

No, no potion or gem bags, no arrow containers--none of that stuff from BG2/ToB, sadly.

Have any of you noticed that the weight of rings and amulets increases with the quality of the mods it has on it? I've got some nice rings that weigh in at 50 pounds each -- how the heck my gimpy training sword and bow using hero can even move her hands with that much glitz on them is beyond me.

Shouldn't rings, y'know, be light?

There must be something wrong, Biflspud. Rings usually weigh 6, not more. Please, look at the item stats => do they have combat damage? Wait, I'll load a German save.

You are correct - my German save 1.3 shows the correct values => 6 for rings, 12 for amulets. Some belts seem to be very heavy. I look at my English saves in 1.4 and 1.42 => I have an amulet with 68!

I'm only wearing orange stuff in both cases - and loaded a save in 1.3 just before the final boss fight.

Sounds like this should be reported in the Tech forum. Good catch on that, Biflspud.

Yup some rings are damn heavy.
I have alot of 24 ones = the weight of a short sword ... kinda crazy.
Some necklaces are also damn heavy

Too bad there is no place to store weapon you'll be able to use in a few levels, or to store a good weapon in each damage type to be able to handle all types of enemies.
Or to store the unique items you find...
And stocks of potions, can be very heavy quickly

Would be cool to have a huge chest to keep all our stuff

ROFL... almost funny but not quite:

My Hero has 64 in strength (4640 weight allowance).
The only items he has in his inventory have a total weight = 251
If I add one more item to his inventory he gets the encumbered icon

His total weight of just the items he is wearing = 2595

I got a pair of Sandals that weight 86 lbs. and they give me +5% to speed along with a lot of other nice things, but I just kind of found that funny at the time.

I never thought of weight as in pounds. I, mean, just starting out you can carry 1000 pounds?
A potted plant weighs 100 pounds?
That thin folding-change-behind-thingys weighs 200 pounds?
Maybe, but it makes waaaaaay more sense if you think about it not as pounds, but as a unit of weight native to there world, not ours.

I hope, this will be fixed. In versions prior to the 1.4er series, rings/amus weighed 6/12.
