Yeah, be sure to read that diatribe before you do anything stupid, like, posting bugs. God forbid anyone try to inform the developers of them.

That was not the point of my post. There's a difference between discussing and complaining, and I was trying to target those that were complaining and doing nothing about it other than threatening to throw their disks away. I was also not attacking you, as I stated in the post, so I see no reason for this attack. I am sorry if there has been a misunderstanding in what I said or how I said it.

The problem is...we're not beta testers. We've purchased the final product. Of course, very few games work perfectly out of the box these days, but this is a bit ridiculous. This will be by third restart as soon as they release the next patch, and that's just not right.

There are problems here that I believe should have been caught in testing, but have not been. And every patch has made it worse. Unacceptable, to me.

Regards,
Michael

One big problem with the game industry nowadays is the buyers accept bugs far too readily. I am actually one of those. I'll put up with a lot of buggage and still play a game. As a beta tester, yes you expect major issues to pop up and should expect them. As the buyer of a game you shouldn't have game stopping bugs depending on which way you decided to play the game. For instance, let's say that in the beginning you've been starting your character pumping up Luck to get cool items, then suddenly your helm of luck quits working. Well you just pretty much wasted your time going luck. I happen to have been going this route and see no reason to continue if I can't continue with the high luck I had.

Not to get into whinging, here, but I do agree with this. I think it may have to do with the increasingly younger group of players who are becoming the target market for PC games, and who simply throw away games that don't work well because it's daddy's money, and not theirs.

Just saw the new IGN review of BD. You reminded me of that.

This looks like an industry-wide attitude, rather than a problem specific to Larian. Hell, Encore's Sacred (which I prefer calling Blasphemy) has 6 patches to date, and it was unplayable when it first showed up.

Couldn't agree more with that statement.

I would like to add though, that I totally disagree with this "whinging" comment that everyone brands onto anyone who shows disatisfaction. Whatever happened to consumer rights? If you think these forums are bad, you should check out Bioware's or Bathesda's. When NWN first came out all I saw were real whiners and that was: "OMG THIS SUX, I CANT CHEAT ON THIS MODULE!!!! I WANNA USE MY UBER WARRIORZORZ!!11!!11" etc. At least everyone here wants Larian to succeed or at the very least respects them.

Fact is: Everyone who bought Beyond Divinity has a box, a manual and two CD's stating "I have the right to an opinion". I don't see how it is anyone elses right to brand someone else a 'whiner' because they disagree with their P.O.V. If anything the one who says people are whining is the whiner because he's whining someone is whining *falls over*

This has all just reminded me why I love posting here. Apart from all the occassional differences of opinions and minor squabbles, these are still the most friendly forums i've ever been on.

If you want trouble, just go to GameFaqs now THAT is whining.
