In most D&D games, hit points gained on level-up is a hit die (d6 for casters, d8 for rogues and clerics, d10 for warrior classes) roll + constitution modifier. The roll is usually made when the level-up is selected. This means that "save before leveling up and reload if you don't like the roll" is a valid tactic in single-player games. Here, however, reloading the save seems to do nothing, and I keep getting the same post-level-up HP, and what's being selected is neither the maximum roll nor even an average. It's not a big deal since the roll isn't terrible, but I'd like to know how it works.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

I'm just gonna push this up in case I get a reply. Does anyone have a clue how this stuff works?

My Wizard is getting 6 + constitution modifier each level.

I asked in the main channel about this. Apparently you get the average like shown in players handbook + CON.

By the standard rules in the players handbook at first level you get your full hit dice + con so your rogue's hit dice is a d8 so you get 8+1 = 9 hp for first level.
After first level you get the average of your hit dice rounded up + con.
So you get the average of 8 which is 4.5 and rounded up is 5 + your con of 1 which is 6. 6 + 9 = 15. That is how it is calculated.
It could be better explained in game. I hope that helps.

additional notes

My observation now is that the screen to the right when you click to level up says:

Through experience, you acquire new power.

You gain the following traits:

"Maximum Hit Points Per Level "

Does that mean from here on out I get Max or what?

And I agree not explained very well

We should have the option of choosing to receive either MAX or click a dice to roll our own, or just take the average.

Thanks for the confirmation, guys! That does make sense. Thought I do hope they incorporate an actuall roll in there at some point.

No, I guess it just means that that's our new max HP. The "per level" is out of place and needs to be removed.

Yea, that would be pretty cool.
