I've noticed (early in the game) that there are repeated instances where you get a dialogue check, pass it, only for nothing to actually happen and then you have to pass another dialogue check right away. And at least once, you have to pass checks using different stats.

While I can understand this happening very occasionally, I'm maybe an hour or two into the game and I've already run into this 3 or 4 times. It's incredibly frustrating because not only are you faced with multiple checks, more than once it can lead to negative outcomes for failing the second check once you're already locked into it. You also don't have the option of using your whole party's skill modifiers, as some others have already noted on this forum. As a player, it feels like I'm being punished for not simply going full-bore murder mans or ignoring dialogue checks.

I can understand wanting to make the game more challenging - but this ain't it. It's just frustrating.

100%. If they can't resolve it on a single successful ability check, take it out of dialogue it's annoying and makes me just want to kill everyone instead of deal with it. lol

Yep, that's definitely the feeling I've been getting. There's also no way to know when you'll be hit with two or three checks in a row, and so you're frequently rolling the dice (ha ha) on locking yourself into dialogue chains that have either minorly bad or insta-kill results. It makes dialogue more of a slog and a punishment instead of enjoyable.
