I'm not sure how the calculations are working behind the screen, but I'm assuming that attribute and proficiency bonuses are being subtracted from the DC of the skill check. I think it would feel better from a player perspective if the roll showed us the bonus and how it was being applied, because right now there is no way to tell if it actually is being applied. That lack of information disconnects the player from how their stat choices directly impact gameplay. Would it be possible to somehow show that during the dice roll? Also it would be nice to show us the passive number when we automatically pass a skill check.

Strongly agree with this. It's currently not clear whether modifiers are being applied to skill checks. I'd like to at least see the modifier before rolling, then the actual dice roll + the modifier = result.

Maybe even show your modifier in conversation options so you can decide whether it's worth going for. e.g. [PERSUASION +2] Please give me your gold!

EDIT - I've not seen any advantage/disadvantage moments yet, but I'd like to see both dice rolls if that's not what currently happens. Maybe even give the option to roll them separately. In tabletop, some of the most intense moments are where there's a huge disparity between rolls and the end result makes a big difference. Knowing that you escaped certain death because of advantage is more exciting than simply passing the check.

I very much agree (and just made a post about the same thing because I didn't see this one until now), the skill checks are displayed in a very strange way. You CAN mouse-over to see the numbers but the way it's documented it pretty much says that you roll D20 + skill modifier against a difficulty that is Target Number - skill modifier. Which is silly and incorrect laugh

I feel like hiding the actual numbers of the skills that are some of your characters core features, and something you aim to improve throughout the game, is rather shooting oneself in the foot, design-wise, as it basically hides away character progression. Sure, you might've raised your proficiency bonus and put on the Magical Hat of Deceptive Swagger but the game will you, all game, only show that you roll a D20 against a number which is nowhere near as cool as being shown that your hard work has paid off and you now get to add X to the dice roll when attempting a skill check.
Also, mechanically reducing the DC of the skill check instead of adding the ability modifier poses a potential problem since 1 is a natural stopgap.

Lastly, I'd just like to quote the D&D 5th edition Player's Handbook, page 174:
"To make an ability check, roll a d20 and add the relevant ability modifier. As with other d20 rolls, apply bonuses and penalties, and compare the total to the DC. If the total equals or exceeds the DC, the ability check is a success - the creature overcomes the challenge at hand..."

Totally agreed. Another improvement would be on the Character Sheet panel, adding the Skills sets along with bonuses. I feel without it the sheet doesn't feel very 5e-ish.

We also need an option to always show (maybe on chat) math calcs.

I feel like the right-side panel with the Log does that, but I could be wrong. I've looked at a couple of rolls, but not for everything.
